Shahid Ahmad: Leaving the dream to welcome future
Shahid Ahmad Sony Strategic Content Department’s head leaves after 10 years in order to pursuit his indie developer career again
For lots of people, especially game developers, having such a title as Sony Strategic Content Department’s Head, could be the true dream made reality but things can be very different if you are looking at it from the inside.
Shahid Ahmad worked for the multinational company for no less than 10 years yet, he has decided to quit Sony in order to pursuit his indie game development career once again.
Sure it can be shocking but there is a lot of hope and a big message behind his story, it is coming back to basics, taking a step back to the beginning and remembering why did you decide to do what you are doing and mostly, having the courage to fight for what you truly want.
He announced this in his blog with a post names “New Life” and aside of being a very emocional title, it reflects what’s going on in Shahid Ahmad´s life, just reading the first lines will give you a good idea on what’s going on:
“Shahid Ahmad: On December 1st 2015, I will be celebrating 10 years at PlayStation. This has been the most rewarding period of my professional life. I have had personal highs and lows and the company has supported me throughout. The last few years in particular have brought so many professional highs, that it’s been hard to take it all in.
So it might surprise you to learn that I’m planning on leaving this wonderful company. Some will want to know why, and some will want to know what it means to developers and to the amazing Strategic Content team that I will be leaving behind. Let’s start with the latter…”
The story is worth to read no doubt but what I want is you to see behind those lines and to remember that your dreams can be achieved, specially as a game developer, never lose your goal and come back to the start if you must.
Since his arrival to Sony he was distinguished as an indie games supporter and surely he made a huge change and open big doors for developers, let´s hope he can benefit from it and mainly, let´s hope he can deliver fun and attractive games to our community.
I want to finish this posts with one of his lines in “New Life” that says:
“Shahid Ahmad: I want to make games again. I stopped being a developer around a quarter of a century ago and have seen so many changes since then, with most of the exciting ones happening in the last few years. I want to be part of that. It’s that simple. The team at PlayStation, while sad to see me go, completely understands my desire. I am privileged to enjoy their support.”
